Mosh Pit Monday
Another start to the week and time for Mosh Pit Monday. Last week was a hectic week but a successful and rewarding week. I had the opportunity for another position with the company I work for but unfortunately it required me to drive a manual vehicle but I only had an automatic licence in all my 15 odd years of driving. I had to go for driving lessons and ultimately go for a driving test last Friday and as nerve wracking as it was, I passed! I start the new position next Monday. As much as I love my ‘day’ job and am so grateful for the opportunity, I always see my perfect job in music but it might just have to be put on the back burner for a little while. At least until I get into a routine with the new role and working out my free time. If my wife has her way there won’t be much time for that!
As this post goes to air, I’m on my honeymoon with my lovely wife at Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. It’s such a beautiful spot and a place we’d eventually like to settle down in, that is when all these kids leave home. Because our ‘four legged’ kids are getting old and fret when we’re away, we’ve taken them with us. As you can see, they love the beach.
This week’s Mosh Pit Monday is going to Ontario, Canada and featuring a band that’s been around since 1991, Soulstorm, one of the early pioneers of death metal still producing great stuff after all this time.
Band members are Nick Sagias on Bass/Vocals, Ryan Hawes on Guitar, Kevin DeWilde on Guitar and Patrick Harquail on Drums. The original line up disbanded back in 1999 but in 2011 Nick Sagias got the music happening again with a new line up and a third full length CD “Fall of the Rebel Angels”.
This is the title track from the CD “Fall of the Rebel Angels” and you’ll agree it’s got an old school industrial, death metal sound. You’ve got to check out the whole album, it’s just fantastic. The guys are back in the studio working on a new CD featuring remixes and covers. The guys are still touring and if they’re in your town you really should check them out. You can follow them on Facebook, Twitter and their website, A band that sounds like the way death metal is supposed to sound. Great work guys!
Oh, and if you missed it, I’ve signed up to Periscope and have filmed myself jamming a bit of new material and old covers. If I can find the time to get in my studio, I’ll share more but if you’re not following, get on board @4evafallshort. Until next week, keep moshin! ,,,/ ,,,/
