Mosh Pit Monday
Welcome to the start of another week and Mosh Pit Monday. Hope you’ve had a great week and were out moshing on the weekend. Me? I was in the garden, yet again. Couldn’t go too far because I was on call for work as well. In case you didn’t know, my ‘other’ job is as a Safety Officer in the electricity industry so when someone loses power, no matter what time of day or night, I head to the property with the on call electrician to fix it. Just means I can’t go too far in case I get a call out. My ‘real’ job is a musician, or I’d like to think so. Not a job as such but a passion and a hobby.
I just can’t help it but I’m going to share another fantastic Aussie band this week, in particular from my town of Brisbane, Tria Mera. So much great heavy metal music being produced in Australia at the moment. (Well, I guess it always has but the bands just don’t have the same success as some of their international counterparts which is a shame.) And Tria Mera are such a band that deserve greatness. They’ve been around since 2007 with founding band members originating from Cairns, Queensland then deciding to make the move to the ‘big smoke’, Brisbane, to cement their place in the Brisbane metal scene.
Band members are Ben Davis on vocals, Juz Cook on guitar, Ian Konrad on guitar, Mike Radeck on bass and Matt McRae on drums.  Described as “delivering melodic metal with maximum effect’ the guys have opened at Australia’s premiere live metal music event “Soundwave” back in 2011. They have produced 2 EPs with an album most likely in the near future.
The EP “Extinction”, released in 2014, has hard hitting tracks such as the above “Severance” with the right mix of growl and harmonies with original riffs and a rockin’ good double kick drum beat. The guys are very active on the local and interstate gig scene and to keep track of where they’re playing next you can follow them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Youtube. Fantastic work guys. Can’t wait to hear more and to catch you live very soon.
Hope you all have a good week and keep moshin’. Stay tuned for more updates on fantastic Australian metal bands in August.
