Mosh Pit Monday
Welcome to a brand new week and another edition of Mosh Pit Monday. It’s been a fast and furious week as far as my full time job goes so not much recording done but I did manage to get along to a fantastic and informative night at Tall Poppy Productions last Monday night and learnt a bit more about recording and using different software and equipment. I took some advice on board and picked up a couple microphones for my amps and my sound in the recording studio is pretty darn good I must say. Just need to find the time to get serious about recording. I’ve got about 25 songs on the go and they all need to be fine tuned but I’m sure it won’t be long before I’ve got some tracks laid. Pity I couldn’t afford to be a full time musician.
Anyway, onto this week’s band and if you haven’t heard of them before you really are missing out. Crown the Empire are a hardcore metal band out of Dallas, Texas and have been around since 2010. For a group of seemingly fresh and young faced guys, they really do knock a heavy punch in the metal music scene with a deadly growl backed up with harmonious vocals and original lyrics.
I followed them on Facebook for a while and managed to catch them live at Soundwave in Brisbane recently. They put on a really great live show and you just felt like you knew them personally and they played at the local pub every Saturday night. A great bunch of guys. The band consists of Andrew (“Andy Leo”) Velasquez on vocals and keyboard, David Escamilla on co-lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Brandon Hoover on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Bennett “Benn Suede” Vogelman on lead guitar and backing vocals, Brent Taddie on drums/percussion and Hayden Tree on bass guitar. They really are worth a listen and if they’re touring near you, they are a must see. You won’t be disappointed.
Check out “Graveyard Souls” from their 2012 studio album “The Fallout”. All of the songs on this album are fantastic. They are a hard working band and on the road a lot. You can check out their Facebook page here for upcoming gigs and their Twitter feed here.
Here’s to another great week in music. I hope to get back to some kind of blogging schedule soon. Have heaps of music to share and an update to the recording studio so stay tuned. Rock on brothers and sisters! ,,,/ ,,,/
