Mosh Pit Monday
Welcome to another edition of Mosh Pit Monday. This week I’d like to share with you a few bands I’m looking forward to seeing at Soundwave 2015 in just over a month away. The musical highlight of the year for me.
DragonForce

DragonForce are a metal band out of the UK. Herman Li, guitarist, founded the band back in 1999 with fellow guitarist, Sam Totman. The dual lead guitarists in Li and Totman are super fast. Their sound might be described as “extreme power metal” with fantasy based lyrics and a video game sound. The songs are fast, unbelievably fast metal lead guitar riffs and a double kick drum beat that will blow your mind. Check out one of my favourite tracks, Through the Fire and Flames. You can follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

Godsmack

Godsmack are a 4 piece alternative metal band out of Boston, Massachusetts who formed in 1995. Sully Erna, founder, front man and songwriter has a voice similar to James Hetfield of Metallica. Often compared to Alice in Chains, the band have developed their own style of raw energy rock that originates from the tough, working class streets of Boston. They continue to uphold their place in the metal scene by producing commercially successful songs while maintaining an original sound. Listen to I Stand Alone and follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
Lamb of God

Lamb of God (or “LOG” as they are sometimes called) are a groove metal band from Richmond, Virginia who formed way back in 1994 so they’ve been around for a while but still keep producing a great heavy metal sound. They have been branded with groove, thrash and death metal labels as well as hardcore punk and grindcore. No matter what genre you want to stick them in, I’m looking forward to seeing them play. Listen to Laid to Rest and follow them here on Facebook and Twitter.

It’s going to be a busy week this week with The Crowbar hosting the grand final of the Reign Havok Battle of the Bands competition this coming Thursday night after being washed out due to flooding back in November 2014. I am on call for work but hope to get there to see the outstanding talent of Worse for Wear, Dead Zephyr, Xens Arrival, Pyre & Ice and Particles in Motion fight it out.
I’m also keen to see a Brisbane rock band called Red Tendrils at the Beetle Bar in Brisbane City this coming Friday night at 8:00pm. I’ve been trying to catch them for a while now.
Whatever you’re doing, where ever you are, I hope you’re listening to some fantastic music. I’ll catch you all next week! ,,,/ ,,,/
