2014 started off as normal as other years had done in my days of recovery. I was working two part time jobs, enough money to live off was coming in, I had reasonably good health and unlucky in love as I had been most of my adult life.
I had the opportunity to join a band as their rhythm guitarist, and even though I was with them for a short time, it added a fuel to my fire to get the Forever Falling Short project up and running, with a vengeance, for which I’m grateful for.
February was a highlight, as always, with the Soundwave Festival. Always so many great metal bands on show. I can’t wait to be there in 2015 with a full two days of heavy metal madness. Stay tuned for a full review of all the acts here at Forever Falling Short.
March saw me 3 years clean and sober and I’m fast approaching my fourth year. My addiction is something that won’t go away and it’s a battle for me on a daily basis. It’s all a matter of choice and it’s all about making the right choice each time the evil that is addiction raises it’s ugly head. Having hopes and dreams and putting them at the forefront of my thoughts helps me get through each day.
For the last few years I hadn’t had much success with online dating but I managed to spot this one ad on a website I was a member of and contacting her has changed my life in ways I couldn’t imagine. We met and have been together ever since. We just hit it off from the start and share so many common interests including a passion for music. It’s true what they say, when you’re not looking for it, someone comes along. Anne is a driving force behind the Forever Falling Short website while I work on the music. There’ll be great things happening for us in 2015.
Just before that I lost one of my part time jobs so finances were tight. Remaining positive saw things take a turn for the better in the latter part of 2014 with some great job prospects and opportunities with my current employer. I’m making ends meet but I’ve found that’s all I need. I have all my basic needs being met plus a bit leftover for my creative pursuits so life’s pretty good.
I got to build my own recording studio where I’m living. It’s been great having my own personal space to get the creative juices flowing. I’ve since swapped the jam room space for my partner’s office space so stay tuned for updated photos. I’ve got a lot more space and heaps of room for a lot more equipment. (Hope my partner doesn’t read that part!)
Mosh Pit Monday
With a love for seeing live gigs, we heard about the Reign Havok Battle of the Bands challenge at a venue in town and Mosh Pit Monday was formed. A great place to read about new acts and music. 2015 will see us trying to get out to see new up and comings bands or share with you some great musical acts from around the world.
My December birthday and Christmas has gone for another year. There were lows but definitely more highs but it’s a great time to just reflect on the year before and refocus on the year ahead.
There’s still problems with the ex and kids and all those normal things most people find they have problems with in life and it still remains a challenge but one that I take day by day.
2015 will definitely be a big year for me and Forever Falling Short. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for visiting and following my journey here. Although I have moments throughout my day, I’ll never give up my new way of life, being drug free. The benefits of being clean and sober far outweigh any drug fuelled day I ever had! Happy New Year everyone and peace out! ,,,/ ,,,/
