Must be Monday because I’ve got my mosh pit on and it’s time for Mosh Pit Monday. Last week was cray, cray, crazy! My poor Mum’s health hasn’t been the best since Christmas and as she lived on her own, it wasn’t safe for her to stay at home by herself due to her ailments so it was best she moved in to a nursing home. It would’ve been such a hard choice for her to make but in the long run, she accepted it well and is settling in nicely to what seems a really nice place. We had the job of packing up a lifetime of her belongings and moving some of them to her and the others back to my place. It was sad to see the life she had made for herself being packed into boxes, probably never to be seen again. I just hope that her health stabilises in the home and she regains some kind of normality in her life. Her mind is still very active but her poor body is failing her. We wish you well Mum!
This week we’re off to the USA and I’m featuring a band I’ve been in love with for quite a while. I came across a CD of theirs in a second hand store once and have been hooked since. As I Lay Dying are a hardcore metal band, with a bit of punk and rock thrown in, out of San Diego. They’ve been around since 2001 and have a huge following.
Things seemed to have quitened down for the guys recently due to founder and vocalist Tim Lambesis being incarcerated last year so the rest of the band have gone on to other things. Best thing about music that has been created is that it is out there for eternity. I’ll never get tired of listening to any of their music on the six CDs I now have from As I Lay Dying.
Although the band has been referred to at times as a “Christian” band, the band insists they were five Christians in a hardcore metal band. If you listen to the lyrics on a lot of their songs, you’ll find that you can relate it to any struggles you may be having in life, like I have with my own addiction. I love the above track “Through Struggle”. Every day is a struggle for me but with bands like As I Lay Dying and the music they create, it keeps me on track and keeps my troubles in perspective, one day at a time. You can check out some of their tracks on Youtube. Stay tuned for a review on the band, Wovenwar who are made up of previous members and are just as good.
Keep rockin’ and have a great week in music! ,,,/ ,,,/
