Mosh Pit Monday
Welcome to another week and another Mosh Pit Monday. These Mondays are just flying by. Here we are nearly half way through April already. Where did the year go? Busy with work and kids this week. Not much time to do much in the way of music.
I did, however, put my dodgy creative talents to work with this vocal box for this ISKBM600 condenser microphone I picked up second hand. I used a bit of old timber and carpet to construct it on a stand. My other half says with a hoop on the bottom and the kids will have a basketball hoop to play with when I’m done with it! An update on my recording studio is in progress (when I get around to giving it a good tidy up before I take photos).
This week’s Mosh Pit Monday goes to the USA to feature an alternative rock/post hardcore band Far From Over. The band, from Hannibal NY has been around since 2011 and have an individual, bad ass style with quite a commercial, marketable sound. They are a Twitter follower of mine and I just happened to check them out and think they’re great.
When I listed to their latest offering, The Ascent, there was a great mix of punchy, rock beat songs and some heart felt, lyrical songs with a great message. I’m not sure what their story is but it’s certainly another band that I can relate to. The band members are Zac Birdslow on vocals, Alex Carter on bass, Tyler Battist on guitar, Zane Pointon on drums and Noah Schoeneck on guitar.
One of their songs from The Ascent I loved is “Tonight” which, to me, has a very “Story of The Year” sound, one of my favourite bands.
Another great song from the same album is “You Fight Your Enemies, I’ll Fight Myself” something I relate to every day. This song could be quite easily be on the airwaves of any rock radio station in the world. I really hope it gets picked up. You really need to check them out. You can follow them on Facebook, on Twitter or check out their account on Spotify
In the meantime, have a great week in music and rock on! ,,,/ ,,,/
