National Youth Week 2015, It starts with us Our Voice 10-19 April 2015
Today kicks off National Youth Week (10 April to 19 April 2015) here in Australia. National Youth Week is Australia’s largest celebration of young people aged 12 to 25. The theme for this year is “It Starts With Us.”

To celebrate National Youth Week, events will be held right across Queensland. These events cater to all tastes, from the Raw Sounds music festival on the Sunshine Coast to Feast of Cultures multicultural events in Cairns. What all these events have in common is their shared theme of “It Starts With Us” and an opportunity for young people to express themselves in a way that suits them.

Young people who cannot make it to official National Youth Week events still have a chance to participate in the “It Starts With Us” theme. PCYC Queensland is running a competition where young Queenslanders have an opportunity to share their volunteering stories and have a personalised phone case sent to them (terms and conditions apply). The competition is open to Queensland residents aged between 12 and 25.

If you’re aged between 12 and 25 or know someone who is, check it out. You might think life is pretty boring around this age and you might think it’s cool to hang out with the ‘wrong’ people and maybe make wrong choices like I did. Getting involved, checking out some of the fantastic events like music festivals, skateboarding and cultural events among your peers will be way cooler.
