Mosh Pit Monday
Welcome to a sweltering and flooded Mosh Pit Monday and Australia Day, the day we commemorate the First Fleet arriving from the UK back in 1788. Any excuse for a public holiday. We’ve had a bit of both this last week with temps well over 30 deg C and my beloved recording studio, plus the connecting cinema room flooded with torrential rain. It was just about complete after a reshuffle but now everything’s out waiting for an insurance assessor. Damn! I was really making good progress on my first EP but hopefully I might be able to plug in while the rebuild is happening. Stay tuned for progress.
There’s nothing like live music to lift your spirits and we managed to catch a classic rock tribute band that does the best covers of any tribute band I’ve ever seen. Masters of Rock Show launched a brand new show yesterday with their “Australia’s Favourite Sons” show featuring songs from Michael Hutchence (INXS), Jimmy Barnes (Cold Chisel) and Bon Scott (AC/DC). It was a steamy and hot day at the Cleveland Sands Hotel where celebrations were held for Australia Day.

Masters of Rock Show have been rocking South East Queensland and beyond since August 2006 covering bands such as Guns’n’Roses, AC/DC, The Doors, Led Zepplin, The Eagles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Deep Purple and their brand new show Australia’s Favourite Sons. Band members are accomplished artists in their own right and include Grant Daniels, Peter Timms, Hawkan Manderstedt, Glenn Williams, Mark Timms, Brad Ingledew, Malz Ego and Peter Vandersteen who multi task between singing and playing many instruments.
The acts are reminiscent of the actual band including full costume, sound and on stage theatrics like Jim Morrison in the above photo.
The Axl Rose look-alike above makes you think you’re seeing the real thing.
They do a great rendition of Angus Young and all of the classic AC/DC tracks, as was the case yesterday with their Australia’s Favourite Sons show.
Keep your eyes peeled for the Masters of Rock Show at a club or pub near you. They’re the next best thing to the real deal.
Thanks for popping by this week. Have a great week and until next Monday, I’ll leave you with this classic line from AC/DC. I salute you! m/ m/
